1200 x 800 mm export pallets
1200 x 800 mm is a footprint, and a common request from continental customers. It is worth being precise about what that request is actually asking for.
Why customers ask for this size
Much of continental Europe is configured around the 1200 x 800 mm footprint — racking, conveyors, in-plant handling and lorry beds. A customer asking for this size is usually telling you something practical about the site that will receive the goods, and it is worth taking at face value.
Footprint is not a licensed pallet
A pallet measuring 1200 x 800 mm is not automatically an EPAL pallet. EPAL is a licensed system with its own marks and rules, and we do not supply or specify it from this site. If your customer's specification genuinely requires licensed EPAL pallets rather than the footprint, say so at the enquiry stage and we will tell you plainly that this is not what we are quoting.
What to confirm before you order
The footprint is the easy part of the specification. What tends to matter more is how the pallet behaves at the far end.
- Whether the receiving site needs four-way entry for its handling equipment
- Whether there is any load overhang, which causes problems in racking
- Whether the movement requires treated and marked wood packaging
- Whether the customer has specified a condition — new, or used to a stated grade
