Reconditioned export pallets

Reconditioned pallets keep serviceable timber in use, which is the right instinct. The care needed is around marks: a repaired pallet has to carry a mark that is still true of the whole pallet.

What reconditioning involves

Damaged components are replaced and the pallet is returned to a defined usable grade. Done properly it is a good outcome — a sound pallet, less timber wasted, a lower price than new. Done carelessly it produces a pallet that looks compliant because the old mark is still legible while part of the pallet is no longer covered by it.

The marking question in plain terms

Where a repaired pallet carries an ISPM15 mark, the treatment status of the replacement components matters, and where wood packaging has been rebuilt rather than repaired the standard's expectation is that earlier marks are removed or obliterated and the packaging is treated and marked afresh by a registered operator. A stale mark left legible on a rebuilt pallet is worse than no mark at all.

We do not paraphrase the standard's thresholds here — they are in the standard, linked below, and that is what to work from if a contract turns on them. The guide on repaired and remanufactured pallets goes into the practical detail.

Structure, separately from compliance

Repairs change how a pallet carries load, particularly when a block or bottom board has been replaced. For stacked loads, long sea transits or automated handling, decide on engineering grounds whether reconditioned stock is appropriate before the marking question even arises.

What we will tell you

For any reconditioned stock we quote, we will be straightforward about what it is, what grade it is and what marks it carries. Where we cannot say something with confidence, we will say that instead of filling the gap.

No prices are published on this site

Pallet pricing depends on specification, quantity, treatment and collection or delivery point, so we quote against a real enquiry rather than publishing a figure that would be wrong for most people.
